Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Assistance

With elderly citizens and those with underlying health conditions facing significant risks from the spread of the coronavirus, we would like to let the community know that we will have deputies available to pick-up and deliver medicine and basic necessities to our elderly and at-risk citizens who cannot leave their homes. Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging: 

Home Delivered Nutrition is intended to provide dietary support for homebound individuals who are unable to cook or prepare meals for themselves and do not have access to adequate nutrition. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Home Delivered Nutrition Services are targeted to persons 60 years of age or older. Priority shall be given to older individuals with greatest economic and social needs, with special emphasis on low-income minority individuals, older individuals with limited English proficiency, older persons residing in rural or geographically isolated areas, and older individuals at risk for institutional placement.

Employment Benefits

Heating Assistance

Stafford County is served by Dominion Energy, NOVEC and the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative. Dominion Energy has a handy guide for options for heating assistance. NOVEC takes donations from customers and donates the funds to community partners like S.E.R.V.E. to assist needy individuals.

Renters - the Supreme Court of Virginia has prohibited new non-emergency evictions for tenants who are unable to pay rent as a result of COVID-19. If you are facing eviction, if your landlord attempts to lock you out without taking you to court, or if you have questions about your rights, contact your local legal aid by calling 1-866-LEGL-AID or get legal advice from the Eviction Legal Helpline by calling 1-833-NoEvict. The Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program (RMRP) is designed to support and ensure housing stability across the Commonwealth during the Coronavirus pandemic. Depending on availability of funds and household need, the RMRP may provide financial assistance for rent or mortgage payments for eligible households. This includes financial assistance for rent or mortgage payments past due beginning April 1, 2020 and onward. Financial assistance is a one-time payment with opportunity for renewal based on availability of funding and the household’s need for additional assistance and continued eligibility.

CVS and Walgreens are providing free delivery of prescription medications to the elderly and other vulnerable populations.

Child Care 

The Governor has issued guidance for child care centers to remain open while aligning with public health recommendations as closely as possible, although it is highly encouraged for parents to stay home with children if possible.

COVID-19 Information for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

The Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH) has published a webpage with “COVID-19 Resources for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing." They are continuously updating the webpage, which includes national and state resources benefitting people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. The webpage includes content, which is accessible to those who use sign language as their primary language or those who rely on captioning.  

Information for Travelers

To slow the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) into the United States, CDC is working with state and local public health partners to implement after-travel health precautions.

CDC recommends travelers, particularly those with underlying health issues, defer all cruise ship travel worldwide.

Depending on your travel history, you will be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days from the time you left an area with widespread or ongoing community spread (Level 3 Travel Health Notice).
