Vulcan Materials Company has withdrawn their rezoning and conditional use applications for a proposed expansion of the Vulcan Quarry, located at 100 Quarry Vulcan Road. The public hearing, which was advertised to take place at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., has been cancelled.
“On behalf of the citizens of the Rock Hill District, which I represent, I had many discussions with Vulcan and they have decided to withdraw their application,” said Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Crystal Vanuch, Rock Hill District. “I am pleased with this decision because the numerous environmental concerns and impacts, particularly to the Rock Hill District, were incredibly troubling. I hope my residents can sleep a little better now.”
