What We Do
The Telecommunications Commission was established by the Board of Supervisors as an advisory group to the Board of Supervisors. The commission promotes and encourages compliance with the franchise agreements among the cable companies operating within Stafford County, reviews and advises the Board on cable television services, telecommunications, broadband (both wireline and wireless) and local infrastructure issues, and promotes local community programming to keep citizens informed.

VATI Grant Updates

Stafford County Board of Supervisors in partnership with Comcast announced September 19, 2022, the expansion of Comcast’s network deeper into Stafford County as part of its latest project through the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) to extend broadband service to more Virginians. The area of the broadband expansion includes the Hartwood and Rock Hill election districts in Stafford County. The project is due to be completed in late 2023.

This expansion will bring Comcast’s fast, reliable and fiber-rich network along with its innovative suite of Xfinity products and services, including residential broadband speeds up to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps), to more than 650 homes in Stafford County.
