Advisory Boards on Towing

The Advisory Board on Law Enforcement Towing (LE) was established by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors to monitor the towing of vehicles requested by law enforcement only. The Board consists of the Sheriff, 3 additional law enforcement officers including the Virginia State Police, 4 tow operators, and two Stafford citizens. It is governed under Stafford County Code, Sections 15 147 to 15-164.

The LE Board meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of January, April, July and October at 10:00 a.m. in the Training Room of the Public Safety Building. Copies of the Towing Policy are available through the Sheriff’s Office.
The Advisory Board on Private Trespass Towing (PT) was established by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors to monitor the towing of vehicles on private property only. The Board consists of the Sheriff, 3 additional law enforcement officers including the Virginia State Police, 4 tow operators, a Stafford citizen, and an alternate Stafford citizen. It is governed under Stafford County Code, Sections 15-165 to 15-177.

The PT Board meets quarterly on the second Wednesday of January, April, July and October at 10:05 a.m. (or immediately following the Law Enforcement meeting, whichever is later) in the Training Room of the Public Safety Building. Copies of the Towing Ordinance are available through the Sheriff’s Office.
