Process to Provide  Public Hearing Comments or General Comments

SIGNING UP TO SPEAK:
If you do plan to speak and would like to reserve a spot, please fill out the form before the close of business the day before the public meeting. You must also select the option “public presentations” or select the public hearing you wish to provide comments

ONLINE PUBLIC COMMENTS:
In order for the Board to read the comments before a meeting, all online comments must be submitted before the close of business the day before the public meeting (i.e., Monday before the Tuesday Board meeting at 4:30 p.m.). All online comments will be added to the public record; however, online comments will not be read at the meeting.

All interested individuals are invited to attend via electronic means and present comments in writing, online, or through other available means.  Persons in need of assistance to access the materials or participate in the public hearing should contact the Department of Administration at (540) 658-4541 so that assistance can be provided.  Additional information, materials, and guidance are available on the County’s website: www.staffordcountyva.gov. 

Participation
The Board of Supervisors appreciates your interest in the Stafford County Government and welcomes your participation. The public has two opportunities to comment during board meetings: during the public presentation section of the meeting and during a public hearing on a particular issue.

If you wish to speak at either time during the board meeting, please fill out an online speaker card (linked above). All speaker cards will be acknowledged in the order in which they are received by the clerk of the board. 

Public presentations that require the use of the County's electronic system for PowerPoint or other visual displays must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board by noon on the Monday before the Board meeting you would like to make a presentation. Please note that the County email system only accepts files smaller than 10MB, if submitting a file larger than 10MB please submit it in-person to the Clerk at the County Administration Building.

Guidelines for Speaking
Public Presentations
  • Individuals whether they are representing themselves or a group, are allowed three minutes each to speak.
  • Please state your name and address as soon as you reach the podium. Please speak into the microphone slowly, clearly, and loudly.
  • Please watch the light on the podium to monitor the time of your presentation:
    • Green - Your public presentation begins. Please begin.
    • Yellow - You have one minute to summarize your comments.
    • Red - Your public presentation is complete.
  • You may speak on any subject except those that will be considered by the board during a public hearing.
Public Hearings
