Phases I & II Completed March 2016, Phase III Completed October 2019

From Warrenton Road (US-17) to 0.25 mile north of Truslow Road (SR-652)
?Improve roadway width, shoulder width, drainage and safety including two 12’ lanes (one in each direction), graded shoulders, and turn lanes at the intersection with US-17.
Additional drainage improvements including increased cross culvert capacity, ditches, stormwater management and improved cross slope and elevation.
POPLAR ROAD PHASE II
Improvements from 0.17 mile north of Truslow Road (SR-652) to the Intersection of Cedar Crest Lane (a private lane) - Project Length = 0.6 mile
A 2008 Transportation Bond Referendum Project. The project reconstructed Poplar Road to meet current VDOT standards for a Rural Collector Road (VDOT Standard GS-3 classification). Improvements include horizontal and vertical realignment, typical section improvements (lane width, shoulder width, and roadside features), and sight distance improvements.
The roadway typical section includes two standard 12’ lanes with adjacent 8’ shoulders (3’ paved) in each direction, and roadside ditches to convey local drainage. Stormwater management in accordance with County and VDOT standards will be provided using LID (low-impact-development) and IMP (integrated- management–practices) facilities.
POPLAR ROAD PHASE III
Improvement from 0.077 miles south of the intersection with Mountain View Road (SR-627) to 0.233 miles south of the intersection with Mountain View Road.
Reconstructed Poplar Road at the intersection with Cedar Hill Lane to meet current VDOT standards. Improvements made include horizontal and vertical curve realignment, typical section improvements (lane width, shoulder width and roadside drainage) and sight distance improvements.
The roadway typical section includes two 11’ travel lanes with 6’ graded shoulders. 3’ of the graded shoulders are paved with asphalt concrete. New ditches constructed to convey roadway drainage and stormwater treatment was handled through the purchase of Nutrient Credits.
