Full-Time Benefits

Health Insurance - Coverage is available through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and includes medical, dental, vision and prescription benefits. The employee will pay a portion of the premium as outlined below. Health insurance benefit options will be explained during new employee orientation.
Retirement - Administered by the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Employees will contribute 5% of their salary into VRS .

Deferred Compensation Program - (Administered by ICMA Retirement Corporation and Nationwide)- Supplemental retirement program that allows employees to defer a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis (federal and state tax free). Various investment options are available.

Life Insurance - Offered through the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) with coverage provided by Minnesota Life. Basic coverage includes benefits for natural death, which is twice the employee’s annual salary rounded to the next highest thousand dollars, and coverage for accidental death, which is double the natural death benefit. Additional group life insurance coverage is also available to employees and their dependents.

Leave Benefits - Annual leave and sick leave are accrued based on years of service.

Holiday Pay - Regular full-time employees receive 13 paid holidays per year.  

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Free, confidential counseling service available to employees and anyone in their household.

Direct Deposit - All employees have direct deposit of their bi-weekly paychecks into one or more financial institution(s) of their choice.

Credit Unions - Marine Federal Credit Union (MFCU) and Virginia Credit Union (VACU) - Employees and family members are eligible to join both credit unions. Checking and savings accounts, various types of loans, and other products are available.

Worker’s Compensation - Coverage at no cost to employees for injury or illness arising out of and in the course of employment.

Flexible Benefits Program: Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts - Allows employees to contribute pretax dollars to reimbursement accounts from their paychecks for unreimbursed medical and dependent care expenses. Administered through Mark III.

Voluntary Insurance Programs - Mark III offers supplemental coverage including short-term disability, hospital indemnity, cancer and other insurance products through payroll deduction.

Tuition Assistance - After one year of employment, all full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to receive tuition reimbursement on a first-come, first-serve basis. An employee may be reimbursed for a maximum of $1,500 per fiscal year.
