Stafford County Code, Chapter 12

Chapter 12 of the Stafford County Code contains the Fire Prevention Code regulations for Stafford County.  These local fire prevention regulations supersede the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code where they are found to be more restrictive.  These regulations are primarily enforced by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code

The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC) applies to buildings under construction, demolition, renovation or rehabilitation.   These requirements are based on the International Building Codes with amendments that apply statewide across Virginia (no local amendments are permitted).  These regulations are primarily enforced by the Stafford County Building Department.

Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code

The Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code prescribes regulations affecting or relating to the maintenance of structures, processes and premises and safeguards to be complied with for the protection of life and property.   It is based on the International Fire Code with amendments that apply statewide across Virginia (local amendments may be more restrictive but cannot be less restrictive).
