Residents are afforded telephone privileges at the Center dependent upon good behavior and/or security risk. All Residents are informed of rules and policies upon arrival and are required to acknowledge understanding by signature. When behavior violates rules and policies, telephone privileges are suspended until behavior becomes compliant.
RESIDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ACCEPT PHONE CALLS OR MESSAGES FROM OUTSIDE THE FACILITY.
Residents may use the telephone system when time permits, usually on weekends and after 1500 on weekdays. All phone calls are COLLECT CALLS and go through the Encartele Minute-Mizer Phone System. This requires parents or guardians to set up a pre-paid account for the telephone number(s) the Resident calls. To receive information and set up an Encartele account please call (866) 476-6723.
Residents are allowed to send and receive mail. The rules of behavior and security risks for telephone privileges also apply to mail privileges. Although staff does not read mail, it is screened and inspected for contraband and/or inappropriate content. Residents may receive letters, postage stamps, and appropriate photographs; all other mail is returned to the sender at the sender’s expense. Each week, RJC provides each Resident writing material, envelopes, and postage for four letters; two on Tuesday and two on Friday. The Center will provide additional writing materials and envelopes for additional correspondence but the parent or guardian must provide additional postage. All incoming letters should have a return address and be addressed as follows:
