Cindy Shelton is serving on her first term on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors representing the Aquia District.
Ms. Shelton is on the Bylaws Committee, the Legislative Committee and the Community and Economic Development Committee.
She serves on the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Other Post Employment Benefits Committee, the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board and is an alternate on both the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transit Commission/Virginia Railway Express.
Prior to this election, Ms. Shelton served as a Deputy Director in DoD, IT Director, Agile Coach, Program Manager, and is a retired USAF veteran.
Excelling in planning and managing organizations, Ms. Shelton’s expertise in the Portfolio, Program and Project Management and has led to her selection as a Board member for the Society of Value Engineering (DC Chapter) participation on several global standard development projects and advisory groups with Project Management Institute where she is currently the chair for the Project Estimation Guide.
She holds certifications from the Federal Government, the Department of Defense and PMI in program and project Management as well as several IT specific specializations. She also holds multiple degrees including a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and an MBA.
As a passionate advocate for special needs adults, Ms. Shelton is active in the Stafford Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and two churches: United Faith Christian Ministry and Andrew Chapel Methodist Church.
She has two children and four grandchildren, all of whom currently reside in Texas. Her sister, Cheryl Pettijohn and nephew Michael reside in Stafford.
