How is Personal Property Tax assessed?
Stafford County assesses vehicles at 40% of the NADA retail value. For example:

• NADA value of $20,000 = $8,000 in county assessed value
• NADA value of $1,000 = $400 in county assessed value

Vehicles that qualify for tax relief, as explained above, received a reduced bill. For vehicles with a NADA value of $1,000 or less ($400 county assessed value), the tax has been eliminated.
