[ARCHIVED] Stafford Saves You Time with DMV Select and DMV Connect

With local Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) offices located at Massaponax and the far end of Garrisonville Road, it can be difficult for people living in between to squeeze in a trip to the DMV. Stafford fills that gap by providing DMV Select services at our George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center and by hosting the DMV Connect outreach service every few months. The Stafford County Treasurer has partnered with the Commonwealth of Virginia on both these initiatives to offer additional services to our citizens. The DMV Connect has an upcoming visit to Stafford on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

“Our DMV Select has a steady stream of customers. In fact, last year, Virginia’s DMV Selects processed more than one million transactions,” said Stafford County Treasurer Laura Rudy. “The DMV Connect sets up in our offices and offers services not covered by our DMV Select. It’s a great outreach by Stafford to all our citizens and patrons, in addition to the many other services our Treasurer’s Office provides both in person and online.”

The DMV Select operates at the counter in the Treasurer’s Office Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. What kinds of services do they offer?

  • Vehicle Titles and Registrations
  • License Plates
  • Permits and Handicap Placards
  • Transcript Requests
  • E-Z Pass Sales

It’s important to note that DMV Select offices do not issue Driver’s Licenses, Learners Permits or Identification Cards.

The DMV Connect will offer hours in the Treasurer’s Office on July 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The goal of the service is to provide assistance to people who aren’t able to make it to the DMV. The DMV Connect group visits retirement homes, government centers and homeless shelters. DMV Connect teams conduct all DMV transactions except vital records and testing.
