Anyone may report a concern about a child’s well being, provided the report is made in good faith. All reports are investigated immediately by the social workers. The reporter is not required to give his or her name. A local social worker is on call at all times. It is helpful for the reporter to provide certain information:

  • Name and address of the child and the parent or other responsible person
  • Child’s age, sex and race
  • Description of the alleged abuse
  • Name of the school the child attends
  • Names of other people in the home
  • Directions to the home
  • Reporter’s relationship to the child

Reports of child abuse and neglect can be made in person or by telephone to the Stafford County Department of Social Services at (540) 658-8720.
