[ACTIVE] Storm Update 6

Stafford County remains under a local declaration of emergency, and will continue to do so until full restoration of power has been achieved.

Dominion Virginia currently has 453 customers without power in Stafford County. Their goal is to have everyone back online by tomorrow. Virginia Power is emphasizing that it is very important for citizens to call 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) to let them know if their power is still out. Dominion has an interactive map detailing power outage locations and estimated times of restoration at Dominion map.

After being open for three days, Stafford County’s cooling center at Gayle Middle School closed yesterday at
7:00 p.m. For residents who are still without power and in need of drinking water, gallon jugs of drinking water are available for distribution at Fire and Rescue Station 12 (Berea), 20 Sebring Drive, Stafford, VA 22554. Residents may pick up the water from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is a limit of 3 gallons per family member living in the same home. Residents are still welcome to get water for flushing toilets at all Stafford Fire and Rescue stations.

Both water reservoirs in Stafford are full. However, current water demand is challenging our capacity to treat and distribute water. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, we are asking all water customers to voluntarily discontinue outdoor water usage. If it is necessary to water bushes, flowers, and other plantings, customers are asked to use buckets of water to do so.

For information or assistance, please call (540) 658-8600.
